The presentation will summarise the findings of the Royal Commission, highlight the issues and recommendations relating to relations between the APS and ministers, and comment on them. It will also comment on the Government's Public Service Act Amendment Bill now before the Parliament.

Andrew Podger is an Honorary Professor of Public Policy at ANU in RSSS. He is a former senior public servant, including Public Service Commissioner. He was asked to provide a major report to the Robodebt Royal Commission earlier in 2023 to which the Commissioner refers in her Report. Amongst his publications is a book, The Role of Departmental Secretaries, published by ANU Press in 2009.
